C5225 Continues to Say Load Paper

1.  Cancel any print jobs that are currently being processed by the printer by pressing the CANCEL key on the control panel of the Brother machine.

2.  Cancel any pending print jobs from your computer, follow the steps for your operating system.

a.  Open the Printers folder:

Windows 8: Move your mouse to the lower left corner of the Desktop or Start screen => Right-click the screen and then left-click Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => View Devices and Printers.

Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2:

- Click Start => Device and Printers

or

- Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Devices and Printers

Windows Vista or Server 2008:

-  Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers

Windows XP or Server 2003:

- Click Start => Printers and Faxes

or

- Click Start => (Settings) => Control Panel => Printers (and Faxes)

or

- Click Start => Control Panel => Printers and Other Hardware => View Installed Printers

Windows 2000: Start => Settings => Printers

b.  Open the print queue:

Windows 7, 8, or Server 2008 R2 Users: Right-click on the Brother printer and select See What's Printing.

Windows 2000 , XP, Vista, Server 2003, or Server 2008: Double click on the Brother printer.

c.  Cancel the Print Job:

Click Printer => Cancel All Documents (or Purge Print Documents).

d. Click Yes. This should clear the queue.

NOTE: You may have to make several attempts to completely clear the print queue. If the print jobs still remain in the queue after several attempts, restart the computer.

e.  Continue to STEP 3.

Macintosh

a.  Click on the Printer's icon in the Dock to open its Jobs window.

b.  Select the document you would like to delete.

c. Click Delete.

3.  Pull out the paper tray from the machine. Verify that paper is loaded in the paper tray.

-  If paper is in the tray, continue to STEP 4.

-  If no paper is in the tray, go to STEP 5.

4.  Remove the paper from the tray. Fan the stack of paper to ensure that no pages are sticking together.

5.  Carefully inspect inside of the paper tray for foreign objects such as tape, etc. Pay special attention to the front section of the tray.

6.  Place the paper in the tray. Check the paper in the paper tray to make sure that the paper is below the maximum paper mark (red line on the right green paper guide). Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size. The guides should only hold the paper in place without actually applying pressure.

7.  Place the paper tray back in the machine. Be sure that the tray is fully seated in the machine.

8.  On the control panel of the Brother machine, press the OK key 3 times. The machine should print the Printer Settings pages.


-  If the 'No Paper' message appears on the display, go to STEP 10.

-  If the Printer Settings pages print successfully, continue to STEP 9.

9.  Verify that the printer driver is set for the correct paper source, follow the instructions for your operating system.

b.  On the Basic tab, verify the Paper Source at the bottom of the window is set for the correct paper tray.

c.  Click Apply if you make a change.  Click OK to exit.

-  If the Paper Source is correct in the printer driver and you are still experiencing the 'No Paper' error, check the Paper Source setting in the application you are printing from.  Refer to the documentation for the application. END CALL

Macintosh

a. From the application, click File and Print.

b. If Printer and Presets are the only options on the Print window, follow the steps below for your operating system.

Macintosh OS 10.7 - 10.8: Click the Show Details button to the bottom to expand the Print window.

Macintosh OS 10.5 - 10.6: Click the blue down arrow to the right of the printer name to expand the Print window.

c.  Click on the drop menu (Copies & Pages or the name of the application) and click on Paper Feed.

d.  Verify the Paper Source at the bottom of the window is set for the correct paper tray.

e. Click Print to print the document.

-  If the Paper Source is correct in the printer driver and you are still experiencing the 'No Paper' error, check if there is another Paper Source setting in the application you are printing from.  Refer to the documentation for the application. END CALL

10.  If the problem continues,

Check the warranty status of your machine by clicking on the Machine Warranty Calculator.

If in warranty, contact Brother Customer Support or locate a Brother Authorized Service Center to schedule product replacement or repair.

If out of warranty, locate a Brother Authorized Service Center.  Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.
